How to Help

Connect Youth to Afterschool Programs

Youth spend up to 80% of their waking hours outside of school, and 4 in 5 youth in Virginia are waiting to get into an afterschool program.

You can help expand access to afterschool programs for Richmond youth while providing capacity building support for local program providers.

Volunteer Opportunities

Community Evaluator

Each year, NextUp receives hundreds of applications from local youth development organizations for funding and grants for their afterschool and summer programs. You can help review and select programs that will be available to Richmond youth next year. This is a six hour (1 hour per week) commitment.

Community Event Support

NextUp hosts multiple annual community events for youth and families. We'd love your help setting up, at event stations, and cleaning up. Corporate sponsorship opportunities are also available in addition to volunteering.

Subscribe to our monthly email newsletter to sign up for volunteer opportunities as they arise.
