Evaluation and Data Manager

Location: Richmond, VA 
Type: Full-Time 
Salary:  $65,000 – $70,000

We’re hiring a strategic and analytical Evaluation and Data Manager to strengthen our afterschool provider network through meaningful evaluation and powerful data insights. In this critical role, you will transform raw data into actionable insights — helping ensure every program we support is continuously improving program outcomes and impact.

Why This Role Matters

You’ll be at the forefront of measuring what works. Your analysis will guide funding decisions, strategy shifts, and performance improvements across the organization. From cleaning complex datasets to developing key performance indicators (KPIs), your work will directly influence how we serve youth and support community partners.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and manage tools to collect, clean, and analyze program data.
  • Build and maintain dashboards that track outcomes and trends.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to assess program reach, quality, and impact.
  • Collaborate across departments to support continuous improvement.
  • Lead evaluation efforts for grant-funded initiatives and policy guidance.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Data Analytics, Education, Public Health, or related field.
  • 3+ years in data management, evaluation, or outcomes monitoring.
  • Advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas, charts).
  • Experience cleaning, validating, and reporting on large datasets.
  • Strong communicator with curiosity and a passion for data-driven change.
  • Experience with tools like Tableau, SPSS, or Cityspan is a plus.

Preferred

  • Knowledge of Out-of-School Time (OST) or youth development programs.
  • Experience designing and interpreting surveys.
  • Familiarity with evaluation frameworks and performance measurement.

NextUp is a nonprofit out-of-school time (OST) intermediary that provides system-level support and coordination for OST programs, services, and resources in Richmond. Our work through data management, capacity building, professional development, and advocacy envisions a Greater Richmond Region where all youth have access to high-quality expanded learning opportunities in both school and community settings. Through a collective impact approach, NextUp builds power across sectors by convening and collaborating with youth, families, OST partners, businesses, and government agencies and organizations. Our partners include youth development agencies in Richmond and a network of over 130 youth program providers.  

NextUp is a hybrid work environment. We work from home Mondays and Fridays and are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
